Report: BMW M5 and M6 mid-cycle refresh to add Competition Package to the mix

Submitted by on avril 26, 2013 – 1:25 No Comment

BMW enthusiast site BMWBlog along with a contributing report from CARandDRIVER has apparently learned that the Bavarian auto maker is setting up its current generation M5 and M6 cars for a mid-cycle refresh. However, the more important bit is that the M5 and the M6 are said to be receiving a competition package for the new update.

So what does that mean? Rumor has it that the Competition Package will boost the BMW M TwinPower Turbo V8’s rating to 575hp and 502 lb-ft of torque, up from 560hp. Additionally, the suspension is also said to be tweaked along with some bespoke appointments like a special M steering wheel, special 20-inch rollers, and a new exhaust system with unique Black Chrome tips. The top speed is also pegged at 189 mph versus the normal 155 mph.

Though neither reports specified a time frame nor pricing for the new BMW M5 and M6 facelifts. However, there is reason to suspect that it is to be done fairly soon. Additionally, you can most likely expect the competition packages to demand a pricey premium.
